SKUAST-Jammu organizes training programme | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, June 5: Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, SKUAST- Jammu in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSLRM) organized 15 days training cum capacity building programme for twelve Pashu Sakhi (women paravets) of UMMEED from May 19 to June 2, 2015. The main objective of the programme was to build a cadre of female community animal care service providers, who can effectively deliver animal care services in sustainable manner. The training was imparted to bridge the prevailing extension gap and to create a group of community resource persons to deliver available technology transfer and knowledge dissemination through community to community learning process by training and capacity building. The participants were given theoretical as well as practical hands on training on various topics ranging from an overview of basic anatomy, physiology of cattle and poultry, livestock breeds and their suitability to different areas, management of new born calf, importance feeding of colostrums and calf starter, fodder trees and grasses available for feeding and their nutritive value. preparation of fodder and mineral, feeding of pregnant animals, value addition of meat and milk, handling and restraining of sick animals, diagnosis and management of various disease conditions under field conditions, vaccination schedule and availability of vaccines in large animals, heat detection in animals, and right time of A.I. |
