Jan assails Govt for meager assistance to border shelling victims | | | Early Times Report
POONCH, July 19 : Expressing concern over injuries inflicted to five persons due to shelling from across the border on Line of Control in Poonch, Provincial Youth National Conference President and former MLA Ajaz Jan on Sunday ridiculed the PDP-BJP Government for its insensitivity in providing a meager Rs 1000 and Rs 2000 each to those suffered minor and major injuries respectively. "This is like sprinkling salt on the wounds of the injured", Jan said, adding that the coalition dispensation's indifferent attitude towards borders dwellers is reflected from the fact that nobody from the political executive thought it prudent to visit the injured and express solidarity with them. He said the plight of the border people has been miserable as they were suffering from constant fear due to shelling from time to time. He expressed solidarity with the injured residents of Qasba and Shahpur villages and urged the administration to compensate them adequately and ensure their specialized treatment. Jan recalled that the Omar Abdullah government used to provide Rs 10000 and Rs 50000 to similarly placed persons having suffered minor and major injuries respectively in the unfortunate shelling incidents. He assured the shelling victims that National Conference will plead their cause forcefully before the administration so that they are adequately compensated. |
