JAMMU, July 19: At a time when an average quality shirt costs Rs 1,000-1,500, DGP K Rajendra and 51 other IPS officers in J&K are being given less than Rs 1,000 per annum to buy their uniforms which include a shirt, a pant, a pair of shoes and a belt. The money is ridiculously being given to them under Uniform Renewal Grant (URG) and the practice is in vogue for the past several years. Police sources said the home department had given money to 52 IPS officers, including the DGP, six ADGPs, 19 IGPs, 17 DIGs and nine officers of SSP and SP ranks, of the state under URG to buy their uniforms. The DGP has been given Rs 1,945 for two years (from September 1, 2014 to September 30, 2016), ie Rs 972.5 for one year. Of the six ADGPs, Naveen Aggarwal, S M Sahai and Dilbagh Singh have got the maximum URG share. They have been given Rs 3,000 each for 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17. P L Gupta has got the lowest URG share of Rs 723 for one year. Of the IGPs, Srinivasan, Deepak Kumar, Abdul Ghani Mir, Mohammad Suleman Salaria, Alok Puri, Muneer Khan, Rajesh Kumar, Mukesh Singh, Danish Rana and J P Singh have been given Rs 3,000 each for three years. Among the IGPs, Sunil Kumar Sharma has got the lowest amount of Rs 1,860 for the same period. Six of the DIGs have been given Rs 1,000 each for one year. Shakeel Ahmad Beig and Parminder Singh have got the lowest URG share. Except for one, all other SSPs and SPs have been given Rs 1,000 each for one year. Rattan Chand Magotra has got Rs 1,871 for two years, ie Rs 935.50 for one year. |
