Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 19: The Health Minister Chaudary Lal Singh is virtually acting as dictator and the employees of the Health department who are trying to raise their voice against him are either being transferred or sent to cells.
Sources told Early Times the Health Minister in order to establish his writ and to ensure that no one dares to raise his or her voice against him is acting swiftly. "Since the day Lal Singh has taken over as the Health Minister of the state many people have been transferred and posted to ensure that top posts are manned by the officials who are close to the minister and are in his good books," said a source.
He said that Lal Singh rather than paying attention towards improving the health care facilities is busy in making his lobby strong to ensure that shortcomings of the department remain under the carpet. The Jammu and Kashmir Health Minister who has been hogging the headlines for "harassing" the doctors and other employees of the health department on one or other pretext has succeeded in curbing the dissent and has turned into an uncrowned king of the health department.
Sources said that a few doctors who tried raising their voice against the "dictatorial attitude" of the Health Minister have been "cut to their size" some of them have been sent to far flung areas, while a few of them have been placed at inconsequential positions.
The insiders said that doctors are fed up of Health Minister's attitude and many of them are mulling to move outside the state to save themselves from the undue harassment and other problems they are facing. "A few people are planning to write a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed about the mental torture and agony they are facing," said a source.
He said that Lal Singh as Health Minister seems least bothered about putting the system back on rails. "Since the day Lal Singh has taken over the charge he has made no attempt to listen to the grievances of the doctors and other issues concerning the administration," said a source.
He said that many hospital in Kashmir and Jammu regions which had suffered huge damages due to September 2014 floods are still in shambles as most of the equipment which got destroyed during the floods has not been replaced till date. "It's unfortunate the minister believes that establishing his writ is more important than putting the health care system back on track," the source added.
He said the Minister has failed to get the proper feedback from the Medical Superintendents and others about the defunct machinery and the other issues due to which people visiting the hospitals face immense problems. "Till date the Health Minister has felt that there is no need to meet the Union Health Minister to seek some special package for the ailing health sector in the state. Neither he seems bothered about replacing the defunct machinery present in the hospitals," the source added.
