Ksihtwar, July 19: Chinar Power Projects Workers Union (CPPWU) demanded early resumption of work at Drabshalla project on Sunday. The meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Joginder Bhandari, the meeting was attended by all the office bearers of the union. The participants while speaking on the occasion demanded early resumption of work upon the Rattle HE Project Drasbshalla so that the unemployed skilled, Semi-skilled and unskilled youths of District Kishtwar could be absorbed in the said project. Joginder Bhandari Union Chairman while addressing the meeting informed that the work upon the Rattle HE Project Drabshalla was suspended by its client M/s GVK Power development in the month of July 2014 and consequently 493 workers were retrenched by the executing agency M/s L&T and have become jobless as a result of which brewing resentment is prevailing among the retrenched workers and new job seekers. Bhandari has urged upon the management of GVK to re-engage the retrenched workers in the said project as they had already served in the project for more than eight months. Bhandari has hoped that the new PDP and BJP collation government in J&K state will solve the genuine demands of the unemployed youths of district Kishtwar in respect of resumption of the project and starting of other upcoming projects like Pakal Dul, Kero, Kawar, Karthi and Burser hydroelectric projects falling in the district. He said a ray of hope has been raised among the unemployed since the announcement of formation of new collation government in the state. He demanded early resumption of work on Rattle hydroelectric project Drabshalla and starting of other hydroelectric projects so that the youths could avail opportunity of employment in these projects. |
