Protest against PDD held at Samba 7/19/2015 11:59:01 PM Early Times Report Samba, July 19:Residents of the Samba Border road today held protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for not replacing the damaged transformer and blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway disrupting vehicular movement for half an hour. A large number of irate people of the area came to road shouting slogans held the PDD responsible for power crisis in the area saying in last 3 days it failed to restore the power supply in the locality. The locals staged protest demonstration and shouting slogan against PDD and demand early restoration of power supply to their area. The PDD authorities have not replaced the transformer despite many pleas. If power supply was not restored soon we would intensify the agitation," said Sahil Gupta, a local. The power transformer developed a snag few days back and since then the people of the area are without electricity. We are badly suffering in this hot and humid summer but the department has turned a blind eye towards our grievances, "said Sandeep Kumar, another local. Later senior officials of police reached the spot and assured the people that transformer will be installed soon.
