Ganga, Jugal lay foundation stone of dev works | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 19: Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga, along with Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma, on Sunday laid foundation stone for construction of lanes and drains, water supply schemes in various areas of Bari Brahmana, besides took stock of various developmental activities in the area. The Minister directed the officers to take care of quality parameters while ensuring expeditious execution of these developmental works so that durable assets are created in the state. He said that accelerating developmental pace with emphasis on growth of unattended and inaccessible pockets, is the core mantra of coalition government and everyone must work hard to achieve this. He said that Government was determined to ensure that all areas of the State get equal opportunities of progress and development, adding that this calls for greater participation of people for tangible results. "Though a few months in office is a brief span for any government, yet the efforts and achievements stand testimony to the fact that sincerity of purpose and single mindedness can be instrumental in dispensing responsive and accountable governance", the Minister maintained. Later, the Minister and the MP addressed a mammoth gathering at Sumb and listened to the demands and grievances of the people. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that holding of such public meetings serve dual purpose of providing an opportunity to people for raise their issues besides getting feedback about the status of development works being done in the area. He appealed the people to equally involve themselves in development and welfare programmes being implemented in their respective areas so that they get enhanced basic amenities. He also asked the people to cooperate with government agencies whose sole motive is to provide them better services. Responding to various issues raised by locals like water scarcity, inadequate power infrastructure and supply, dilapidated roads, lack of lanes and drains, the Minister issued strict instructions to officers accompanying him to look into these issues and report to him at the earliest. He said due to mismanagement and mis-governance on the part of previous regime the people did not get their dues and lagged behind in the development.
