UDC lambasts administration over ignorance of Devika river | | | Early Times Report
Udhmapur, July 19: Udhampur Development Council (UDC) today lambasted district administration for ignoring holly river Devika. Addressing a press conference here today, the chairman UDC, Anil Paba highlighted ignorance and step motherly treatment to sacred Devika River by authorities at the helm of affairs. He demanded from state pollution control board (SPCB), Drainage department Jammu and District administration for preventive and protective measures for eradication of pollution and for restraining of mass scale encroachment under the nose of district administration. UDC displayed the memorandum being sent to central as well as state government for protection and preservation of holy Devika and its tributary Doodh Ganga while categorically saying that the Devika issue is not a political issue to be discussed only at the time of elections but is a serious issue for saving the holy river from extinction in the near future. Rakesh Padha a social activist appealed to masses of Udhampur and main stream political parties to come on one plate form to make sacred Devika a clean and beautiful river besides taking it to religious tourist map so that more and more pilgrims visit holy devilka river which not only boost economy of Udhampur but of whole state. |
