BJP, PDP leaders mull fresh bid to resolve differences | | | Early Times Report
jAMMU, July 19: Senior leaders of the PDP and the BJP are planning a fresh bid to iron out differences between them, which have during the last 150 days, affected the governance in Jammu and Kashmir. Party sources said that senior national BJP leaders may renew efforts for removing misunderstanding that has crept in and has affected the deliverance on ground. Reports said that after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, made no announcement, during his brief visit to Jammu,on financial package and on AIIMS for the state's winter capital senior lead ers of the state unit of the BJP have conveyed to the BJP led NDA Government that the party could suffer further erosion in its vote bank if the two demands were not met State unit BJP leaders have conveyed to the top party functionaries in New Delhi that for the very survival of the BJP in the region of Jammu the centre should sanction one AIIMS for the region. In addition to this the centre should announce a special financial package for those who had been hit by floods and landslides in the state in September last.Once flood affected people in the Kashmir valley and those hit by landslides in the region of Jammu received adequate compensation for their losses the BJP could get a chance to make inroads in the Kashmir valley. In the absence of financial package and AIIMs the BJP may suffer major reverses in the future elections. And this may give a handle to the opposition Congress and the National Conference to taunt and berate the BJP because it is in power in the centre. A couple of senior PDP and BJP leaders are apprehensive of the survival of the coalition Government folr its full term of six years. These leaders have attributed rise in violence in the Kashmir valley and on the LOC and the IB to the weak performance of the coalition Government. The BJP leaders also want the centre to release additional funds for improving power generation and for developing road connectivity. Additional funds were required for tackling the problem of unemployment in the state. And if these requirements were not fulfilled the security and political instability in the state would touch a new high. |
