‘Nirmal Singh turns separatist’! | Says, J&K issue yet to be settled | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 24: BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, who is being dubbed in Jammu region "a liar and promise-broker", on Thursday virtually toed the separatists' line on Jammu & Kashmir and said that issue would be resolved as per the Vajpayee line. He also said that the government would talk to the separatists and enforce the agenda of alliance, which is termed by the nationalist camp in the state and outside as an "agenda of subversion" and "a new charter of bondage". "The coalition government is working as per the Agenda of Alliance. In democracy, talks are the only way forward…The other party has to be ready also. When the right time comes, we will surely hold talks with them (separatists)," Nirmal Singh said at Srinagar during a BJP 'Eid Milan' function. "For the resolution of the Kashmir issue, the coalition government would initiate dialogue with the separatists in the 'spirit' of initiatives taken by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee," he also said. Earlier on April 24, Nirmal Singh had shown the people of Jammu region their place for electing 25 BJP MLAs and said that "no one could snatch AIIMS from Kashmir and it will not be established in Jammu". Besides, during the budget session, he had charged India with using the state land and state waters, accused the NC and the Congress of handing over the NHPC projects to India and demanded the return of the NHPC power projects in the state. Significantly, none in the party high command questioned him, thus raising doubts in the minds of the people about the intentions of the party. What is this Vajpayee doctrine all about? Vajpayee as Prime Minister had said that New Delhi would resolve the Kashmir issue "insaniyat ke dayire main" (within the ambit of humanity) and also extended a "hand of friendship" towards Pakistan. Prime Minister Modi is following in the footsteps of Vajpayee and he has on occasions more than once said that he believes in the Vajpayee's line on Kashmir - resolution of the so-called issue within the parameters of "Insaniyat, Kashmiriyat and Jamoohriyat". The agenda of alliance, which was obviously approved by Narendra Modi, party president Amit Shah and RSS, the mentor of the BJP, also says the same thing. In fact, the agenda of alliance gives plenipotentiary powers to the Jammu & Kashmir Government or empowers it to start negotiations with the so-called stakeholders for the resolution of the issue. "The Union Government has recently initiated several steps to normalise the relationship with Pakistan. The coalition government will seek to support and strengthen the approach and initiatives taken by the government to create a reconciliatory environment and build stakes for all in the peace and development within the sub-continent. The same will be pursued by taking confidence building measures such as, enhancing people to people contact on both sides of the LoC encouraging civil society exchanges, taking travel, commerce, trade and business across the LoC to the next level and opening new routes across all three regions to enhancing connectivity. The earlier NDA government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee had initiated a dialogue process with all political groups, including the Hurriyat Conference, in the spirit of 'Insaaniyat, Kashmiriyat aur Jamhooriyat'. Following the same principles, the coalition government will facilitate and help initiate a sustained and meaningful dialogue with all internal stakeholders, which will include all political groups irrespective of their ideological views and predilections. This dialogue will seek to build a broad based consensus on resolution of all outstanding issues of J&K," says the agenda of alliance, which was made public on March 1, 2015, the day the PDP-BJP coalition government assumed office. This is the BJP the people of Jammu region voted for in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections? Had the BJP sought mandate on the Vajpayee plank, it would not have won a single seat from Jammu region. For, the people of the region hate the Vajpayee line on Jammu & Kashmir as it is divisive and against the national interest as well as interest of the state in general and people of Jammu and Ladakh in particular. It doesn't consider the people of Jammu and Ladakh and persecuted and hounded out Kashmiri Hindus as an important factor in the political situation of the state; it doesn't appreciate the noble Dogriyat and Ladakhiyat; and it considers Kashmir and Kashmiri-speaking Sunnis as the sole factor in the state. Indeed, the people of Jammu region risked their political future by reposing faith in what is being termed as "perverted BJP". The only silver-lining is that Shiv Sena and many in the BJP, including former HP Chief Minister and Union Minister Shanta Kumar and Subramanian Swami have questioned the BJP high command, with Kumar also claiming that many in the BJP "are in touch with him". Another silver-lining is that the ever alert people of Jammu region are keeping a close watch on the activities of the BJP. They are determined to defeat the nefarious designs of the BJP. |
