JAMMU, Aug 7: Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu today concluded its five-day long lecture series on value education in various educational institutes at Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Akalpur, Jammu. The series started with an inaugural function at the Ashrama premises on 2 August 2015 in the third Youth Meet of the Vivekananda Study Circle, a project of International Volunteer Foundation. This was followed by a discussion on the development of Jammu City on 3rd August in Satwari at the Young Blood Association. On 4th August 2015, the ashrama conducted a lecture for the students of the Government Higher Secondary School, Ghordi Village of Udhampur District, about 100 kms away from Jammu while a spiritual discourse was held in the temple of the Ashrama on 5th August. On 6th August 2015, a program on 'Facing Real-Life Challenges' was held in the seminar hall of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra whereas On 7th August, a program on value education was held in the Vishwa Bharati Higher Secondary School, Akalpur. All these programs were met with an enthusiastic response by the youth. The talks focused on cultivating the cardinal values of honesty, truthfulness, patriotism, and service to others, leading to the development of an integrated personality. The participants were interspersed with audio-visual material and humour. Swami Narasimhananda, Editor, Prabuddha Bharata, Mayavati, Lohaghat, Uttarakhand, gave these lectures while Swami Nirantarananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Jammu, presided. All the lectures were followed by an engaging session of question-answers by the youth. The speaker emphasized the need for inculcating these values in daily lives. The session was followed by an interaction and question session. Hundreds of students attended the talk, with many faculty and staff. Nayan Tiwari, the Cultural Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks and gratitude. Swami Narasimhananda suggested and students' community decided accordingly to form a Vivekananda Youth Forum for future interaction and course of action. Dr. Anil Tewari, Dr. Madhu M. Chaturvedi, Pyare Lal, Abhay Deep, Himanshu Garg, and other Students' Affairs Council (SAC) members also attended the session. |
