Revenue Minister seizes 73-yr old land record file | Early Times Impact | | Saahil Suhail
Early Times Report
Anantnag, Aug 7: Days after Early Times reported land grabbing attempt by ruling party leader at famed tourist destination Pahalgam, Revenue Minister Javid Mustafa Mir had reportedly seized crucial land record of the Pahalgam including a 73 year old file 60-C. An official posted in Tehsil Pahalgam confirming the development to Early Times said that he himself handed over the file to Minister's staff at Srinagar secretariat. "Earlier we were asked to draft a list of all those who posses land in Pahalgam including officers, businessman and influential and point out the encroachments they have made but yesterday we were summoned to Srinagar along with the crucial land record of the Pahalgam including 60-C file which is 73 years old," he said. He said that 138 page file contains record of the plots which were allotted to few people in erstwhile Maharaja rule in 1942. "In 1942 the then Prime Minister Haksar had allotted plots to people but there are many instances where people have encroached the land so I think Minister who is famous for his honesty and integrity might take action and free the encroached land," he said. "First we went to meet the commissioner secretary revenue but he (commissioner secretary revenue) told us to drop the file and some other record in the office of the Minister," he added. He said that they have dropped the original file with the Minister's staff after proper page marking. Officer said that they have started land demarcation in Pahalgam from Hotel Natraj- which according to him is the oldest hotel of this famed tourist destination constructed in 1956- but haven't yet completed the process. Pertinently, Forest department had in its internal demarcation report revealed that more than hundred structures have been constructed in Pahalgam while as the infamous Golf Course Land scam (under probe) also establishes the fact that how influential and tainted employees had tempered the land revenue records in Pahalgam. Despite repeated attempts, Revenue Minister Javid Mustafa Mir was not available for a comment as he avoided repeated calls from Early Times. |
