Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7: In sheer violation of set norms for deputation duration, hundreds of employees of Public Sector Undertaking / Corporations have been working in various government departments for last many years, recently have applied for extension of their deputation.
Sources told Early Times that there are over 600 employees of Public Undertaking Sector and various corporations in various Government departments in the State on deputation and now many of them whose deputation period is completed have further applied for extension to General Administration Period.
"Almost every Public Sector Undertaking, Corporation in the state has surplus manpower.
They further said that recently several government departments have stopped the salaries of employees whose deputation period is over and some of them have not drawn their salary for the last six months due to which they have to apply to General Administration Department for further extension of the deputation period.
"There are more than 200 such employees whose applications have been received by GAD for extension period. Consequently, GAD has further written to Finance Department to take up the issue for increasing extensions as the concurrence of Finance Department is mandatory for further extension," they said.
Meanwhile, GAD had asked to all the departments where these employees are posted, in its communication that the extension to be continued and salaries be given until the Finance Department take further action, they informed.
"Shockingly, it has been more three months of period of the issue has been taken up with Finance Department and is still pending as a result employees are bearing the brunt of official apathy," they alleged.
Surprisingly, there are more than 150 employees deputed in Civil Secretariat. As per rules, the employees sent on deputation in other departments, cannot be given extension for more than 3 years. For further extension, they have to seek concurrence of Finance department which cannot be extended over four years. Pertinently GAD is authorized to give only two years of extension.
It has been further learnt through reliable sources that there are many employees who are on deputation for the last 6-7 years, they informed.
