NC backs ReT's stir while BJP backed ReT lobby raises objections over 'politicizing' | ReT's continue to protest against proposed 'screen test', stage massive protest | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report
Kishtwar Aug 7: National Conference District Unit Kishtwar today extended its moral support to the ongoing protest of Rehabar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers who are holding protest outside the office of Chief Education Officer at New DC Office Complex Kishtwar against the police atrocities committed by the police at Srinagar on peaceful ReT protesters demanding revoking of government order to appear for the screen test for their further continuation of their duties. The said order while has triggered resentment among the ReTs across the state but Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) backed ReTs have raised objection over the participation of senior National Conference leader in the protest, followed by their speeches. As per the details available with "Early Times", hundreds of ReT's today assembled at Kishtwar and raised slogans against the education minister and the ruling BJP-PDP alleging that the order of screen test of ReTs is a mockery of justice as many of them are serving in the department since last nearly 15 years. They said that in case the government fail to revoke the order; they will intensify their protest and set the deadline of August 17 for the government either to revoke the order or face the agitation.. They said that all the schools were closed today in support of their demands and said that from tomorrow onwards, they will attend their duties by wearing black bands. Speakers said that majority of the ReTs has attained the upper age limit and only the present job ensures the safety and security of their family. They said that ReTs despite facing lot of problems due to non release of salaries that are pending since last over 9 months showed commitment to their job surprisingly instead of addressing the problems faced by the ReTs, new order added to miseries to their life. While addressing the ReTs protest District General Secretary National Conference Kishtwar Shabir Ahmed Kamal along with Provincial Youth Vice President Majid Zarger who joined the protest to express solidarity with ReTs further assured all possible support to agitating ReTs till the desire results could be achieved. As soon as NC leader left the venue after his address , some ReT's with BJP ideology objected the AJKRETF leaders allowing NC leaders to speak during the protest. However defending the decision of JKRET forum president Tahir Masood, senior union leader Ashfaq Shah and Masood Shah said that the ReT's are fighting for the cause against the government, added that any support from any group including political parties is a well come step. "We cannot forget previous NC-Congress government double our pay and also passed the order for inclusion of our five year service in service records we should be highly thankful to both NC leaders who come today and supported us" said Ashfaq Shah. They said that ReTs President have approached local MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma few days back but received lukewarm response from his side. After staging protest agitating ReTs submitted the memorandum to Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kishtwar Vinod Kumar Soni with the request to forward it to education minister. |
