RKJ organises cultural event in Basohli

Basohli, Aug 7 : Radio Kashmir Jammu today organised a poetic symposium and a music concert at the historic and world famous town of Basohli.
According to press release, with this event RKJ also started its series of programmes in connection with the Independence Day. The event generated a great buzz in the town and was attended by a huge gathering at the Basohli Kala Kendra.
The station Director Radio Kashmir Jammu , V.K. Sambyal, while welcoming the audience stressed upon the role of Radio even the rapidly changing scenario of today , he appreciated the people of Basohli for their love for radio that reflected in the form of huge gathering for the over two hours long programme.
In the inaugural session about fourteen poets from Jammu region that included six local poets of Basohli, four from Kathua and three from Jammu kept the audience spellbound. The poems were full of themes like Patriotism, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao, Corruption, Female foeticide, Heritage and other social evils.
Prominent poets who participated in the symposium included Suresh Kumar Shastri, Shiv Dobalia, Bhushan Shastri, Neelam Sapolia, Devender premi and Dharam Singh from Basohli, T.R.Sumbaria, Vijay Sharma, Saroj Bala and Khajoor Singh from Kathua and Rattan Basotra, Susheel Begana and Inderjeet Kesar from Jammu. It was the turn of the noted singers of the region to take to the stage in the second half and leave the spellbound audience craving for more. Mitra Basohli deya, a song written by the local legendry poet Kishen Smailpuri and equally well sung Aun Channa touched a chord.
