Bhaderwah-Doda road thrown open for vehicular traffic

BHADERWAH, Aug 9: The Bhaderwah Doda road which remained closed for seven days due to a massive landslide at Sanai area, was today thrown open for vehicular traffic.
"The road has been thrown open for vehicular traffic today. However only light motor vehicles would be allowed to ply on the road ," SDM Bhaderwah Mohd Anwar Banday said who himself was monitoring the road restoration work from the last seven days .Two-way traffic has been allowed from Doda to Bhaderwah in the morning today after closure of the road for the past seven days, hundreds of vehicles, mostly passenger vehicles and trucks , carrying essential supplies and stranded for past several days at Pul Doda and Bhalla were allowed to move to Bhaderwah", SDM further added .
SDM Bhadewrah also informed that still landsliding and shooting stone is going on at Sanai area on Doda Bhaderwah road and after 7 PM no vehicle will be allowed to play on Doda Bhaderwah Doda road till all slides are not cleared . The road was blocked after a landslide hit it damaging a stretch of 30 meters (at Sanai area , 18 kilometers short of Doda) on Sunday .However sources informed that Doda Bhaderwah road had opened for a five hours but got closed again following fresh landslides and shooting stone at Sanai area .The GREF had deployed men and machinery to clear the road , but continuous landslide hampered their efforts.
Many Organisations which included Youth Action Committee led by its President Naseer Mehboob Padder and General Secretary Neeraj Manhas and Civil Society members appreciated the efforts of SDM Bhaderwah for restoration of the Doda Bhaderwah road according to them SDM bhaderwah Mohd Anwar Banday himself was supervising the restoration work of BRO.
