Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 9: A team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) that is on a visit to Kashmir these days to trace out people who helped Pakistani militant Mohammad Naved Yaqub arrested two more persons from South Kashmir. Early Times has learnt from reliable sources that a truck driver of South Kashmir was arrested along with his son from Lalen village in South Kashmir's Anantnag district. Maqsood Ahmad Wani and his son Asif Wani were arrested by the NIA along with a team of Jammu & Kashmir Police after the Pakistani militant gave the lead to them in this regard. "The arrested Pakistani militant has been able to manage good contacts in Kashmir more so in the Southern part ever since he landed here. We have been able to crack the whip on some of them and today's arrests were part of the same. We would ensure that all his contacts are zeroed in so that they are arrested and further incidents of violence are stopped," said sources. With the arrest of Maqsood and Asif, the total number of people arrested for their links with Naved has reached four. Two more people were detained for interrogation and they were let off after some time. The interrogation of Pakistani militant has helped the NIA team and police to crackdown on people who have helped Naved in one way or other during his stay in the Kashmir valley. It would be in place to mention that on the directions of Union Home Ministry a team of NIA had landed here to carry out the investigations in the case wherein Naved along with another militant carried out an attack on BSF convoy near Samroli in Udhampur district. Two BSF personnel and the accomplice of Naved were killed in the shootout. Naved was caught alive by two local youth. Naved was brought to Srinagar late Friday evening by the NIA sleuths from Jammu and their primary focus is to find out his associates in Kashmir. On Saturday, Fayaz Ahmad Wani and Javaid Ahmad Wani, residents of Charsoo, Awantipora in Pulwama district were arrested for having links with Naved. Mohammad Altaf Wani and Javaid Ahamd Parray were picked up for questioning and later released. "Once the investigations are complete in Kashmir, Naved would be taken to Delhi for further questioning. The NIA would like to have final details from him as how did he enter Kashmir and then how could he reach the Samroli area in Udhampur district where the attack on BSF convoy was carried out," said sources. However, before taking him to Delhi the NIA team would like to ensure that they are able to catch on to all the threads associated with Naved during his stay in Kashmir. It would be pertinent to mention here that Naved had said that he sneaked into Kashmir from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) through the border district of Kupwara. |
