Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 9: At a time when entire Jammu region is threatened by the desperate attempts of infiltration from across the border, it is strange that government has not cared to announce permanent postings at important positions such as DIG Jammu-Kathua range, SSP Jammu and SP South Jammu. At present Ashkoor Wani , is looking after the affairs of DIG Jammu Kathua range with additional charge of DIG Traffic. SP Rural Rajiv Pandey is also looking after the post of SSP Jammu while as the post of the SP South is vacant for the last six months. The post of SP South fell vacant after the transfer of SP Rahul Malik. The controversy between BJP and PDP over transfers in police department is stated to be the reason behind the continued adhocism. If the sources are to be believed, BJP has been asked to look after the affairs of policing in Jammu, while PDP is managing the transfers and posting of police in Kashmir. Further,1997 batch IPS officers are stated to be the worst hit as even after elapse of eight months of their due promotion, they are still DIGs. Their promotion to the next rank of IGPs is due since January. The officers include Gareeb Dass, Vipluv Kumar, Surinder Kumar Gupta, A K Atri and Johny William. To represent their case, some police officers of the 1997 batch met Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh urging him to initiate the process for their due promotions, but returned without any concrete assurance. The IPS officers of the 1997 batch met with the Deputy Chief Minister after most of the states promoted 1997 batch IPS officers as special IGPs. Earlier, the officers also knocked the door of the PHQ where they were reportedly told that lack of vacancies of IGPs is the reason behind delay in their promotions . The officers are now pinning their hopes at Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad to deliver justice to them. |
