Doodhpathri Development Authority without CEO for one year | Not on Govt's priority, tourist destination craving for attention | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 27: In the cabinet meeting held last week as PDP-BJP alliance made many heads roll and change their positions in the administration, no heed was given to much needed posting of an executive for a famous tourist destination-Doodhpathri which lies in shambles, thanks to pre occupied government in the past and present one too , for their inability to depute a full time officer to take care of the place. Doodhpathri Development Authority is without a CEO for the last over one year. See it as the governments paying no attention deliberately for political reasons or attribute it genuinely to 'dearth' of officers in the administration, the charge has been given for a long time to Additional DC of Budgam. Sources said the famous tourist destination which is thronged by a sizable number of tourists during the season is crying for proper attention and care in many ways as the government has not been able to find a CEO for the Development Authority that was created few years back to promote it as one of the key tourism spots of valley. Leave alone CEO, the DDA has not even basic required staff for maintenance of infrastructure and its upkeep, sources said, adding that neither Executive Engineer nor one for the post of AEE has been deputed so far by the government. Sources further said as a stop gap arrangement Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Budgam, was asked to hold the additional charge of CEO DDA but this continues till date. Since the said officer is not able to give full time attention to working of the DDA, the infrastructure lies in complete shambles, sources said, adding that all the roads are in dilapidated condition and huts too are crying for upkeep and proper maintenance. No steps are being taken for regular cleanliness nor are there ample arrangements or facilities for the huge number of tourists visiting every year, sources said adding that the place is virtually craving for attention of the State Toursim department as also the alliance government which is keen on promoting and exploring the tourism but lacks action and planning for even the place which are abound in natural and scenic beauty. Doodhpathri, it is pertinent to mention has huge potential of attracting tourists on account of its scenic beauty, lush green meadows and resort like ambience. The government is well aware of this fact yet an action and due attention eludes. The Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed during his recent visit to Budgam reiterated that the government will promote Yusmarg, Doodhpathri and Tosa Maidan as "single circuit" to boost tourism in central Kashmir. But despite this assertion, CEO has not been posted for Development Authority. |
