JYF condemns withdrawal of PG courses in DDE, JU | Demands action against erring course coordinators | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 20: The Jammu Youth Forum (JYF) has castigated the authorities of Jammu University (JU) for playing with the future of hundreds of students who are enrolled in PG courses in Economics and Political Science at Directorate of Distance Education. Addressing a press conference here, JYF President Mohd Akram Ahmed strongly condemned the authoritative stand of Varsity administration through which the PG courses of Economics and Political Science have been shut in the mid-session leaving the students in utter dismay. It is the criminal negligence and ignorance on the part of University authorities particularly Coordinator of both the courses i.e. Prof Jasbir Singh, Dr Neelam Choudhary (Economics), and Prof V Nagendra Rao (Political Science) who failed to prepare study material of the their respective courses and also to fulfill the criteria of University Grants Commission (UGC), he elaborated. He maintained that it was the fault of University administration and respective coordinators due to which the two PG courses in DDE have met this fate whereas the penalty have been imposed on the students who not only lost their valuable time but hopes as well. The JYF demanded action against the erring Course Coordinators/Teacher Incharge and adjustment of the students in the regular departments of the University so that innocent won't suffer. The students' body also sought intervention of Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor into the matter to safeguard the interests of the student community. |
