IGP constructs bungalow on 9 kanal land at Niki Tawi Irrigation deptt mum; Div Com takes cognizance 9/21/2015 12:22:47 AM Sumit Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 20: Taking undue advantage of the official position, a senior police officer of the rank of the IGP allegedly encroached 9 kanal land belonging to the Irrigation and Flood Control department and started construction of palatial bungalow on it forcing the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Pawan Kotwal to constitute a revenue team to defer the construction. As per order No 901/CC/JMU;730-34, issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the state land is being encroached upon near Gole Gujral and revenue department is doing nothing, hence a joint commission of the officers including Director Land Record, Director Land Management JDA, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and Assistant Commissioner Nazool is constituted. Informed sources said that the order was issued after Divisional Commissioner Jammu received reports that the land falls in Khasra No 301,302 and 303 of village Jammu bordering village Nandani near Gole Gujral called Niki Tawi is being encroached upon. Following the Divisional Commissioner's order, the revenue team reached on the spot and found that a senior police officer was constructing a palatial bungalow on 9 kanal land in Niki Tawi, that belonged to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. Sources further said that revenue department during initial inquiry found that there exist 2396 kanal and 19 marlas land in Khasra No 301,302 and 303 of village Jammu bordering village Nandani near Gole Gujral, called Niki Tawi and on Khasra No 302 a palatial bungalow is being constructed with the government machinery including vehicles and man power. The Irrigation and Flood Control department was also informed in written a number of times by the revenue department but the former preferred to stay mum for reasons best known to the officers concerned, sources said. Meanwhile, SSP Crime Branch Headquarters Sharief Chouhan, who is alleged to have encroached state land measuring 2 kanal land and 7 marlas, gave his representation to the DC Jammu and Director Land Record stating that his name is misquoted in the land encroachers list as he was living on rented accommodation. Following his representation, a revenue team comprising of Patwari and Girdawar was dispatched for fact finding report. Pertinently, Mufti government is serious to annihilate the nexus between police, politicians and revenue department, hell bent on land encroachment. Earlier, also government vide order No 496-GAD of 2015 accorded sanction to the constitution of the Committee headed by the Chief Conservator of Forests for delineation of forest land based on the complaint that forest land has been encroached in Sunjwan,Bathindi,Raika and Sidhra areas in district Jammu.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
