Now Leftist MLA attempts to stoke communal tension
9/21/2015 12:22:11 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 20: Leftists are supposed to be most 'secular', but in J&K, the lone leftist MLA M Y Tarigami, in an obvious anti-Hindu move, has submitted a private members bill to repeal sections of the Ranbir Penal Code which ban sale of beef in the state.
Tarigami has submitted the bill in the Assembly suggesting that ban infringes upon the fundamental rights of the people.
"Section 298-A, 298-B, 298-C and 298-D of Ranbir Penal Code under the classification of offences relating to religion, violates the constitutional guaranteed fundamental rights of the personal life, freedom and liberty of the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir state and amounts to the unwarranted interference to the inalienable rights of the state subject," reads the bill.
Targiami had used the state subject but deliberately avoided the context as about 40 percent state subjects -read Hindus- who hold cow as sacred and will object to the bill.
"Tarigami has been politically confined to Kashmir only. He had never brought a bill condemning the killings of Hindus or people of the Jammu region in cross border firing, leave alone visiting the sites where people had died in the firing by Pakistan. But, the same legislator using art of rhetoric in the Assembly makes appeal to both India and Pakistan to stop firing in the interest of the people of Kashmir" said a Jammu based comrade.
People in his own party disclose that Tarigami was also one of the MLAs who pushed the government to bring in Kashmiri Hindu Shrine bill as it wanted to take control of the Shrines managed by Dharamarth trust, read the people of Jammu.
"Tarigami is the sole leftist MLA who lives in high security and most well decked home. The less is spoken about him, the better it is. What else can you expect from such a legislator?" said a senior CPM leader from Jammu, wishing not to be named.
