Amidst shelling on civilian areas; Indo-Pak Brig commanders to meet

Rajouri, Sep 20: After continuous heavy shelling and firing on Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts during last two months, resulting in heavy loss of life and property on both sides, India and Pakistan have agreed to hold 4th Flag Meeting between Brigade Commanders at Chakan-da-Bagh cross LoC point in Poonch district.
SD Goswami, Defence Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence (MoD) said, "India and Pakistan will hold a flag meeting at Brigade Commander level at Chakan-da-Bagh crossing, Poonch on Monday 21 September 2015 to address the issue of ceasefire violations on the Line of Control in J&K". He added the ceasefire violations had escalated in last few days and had resulted in large number of civilian causalities and collateral damage to properties. The field commanders from both sides will discuss the modalities to defuse the tension.Before this Flag Meeting on June ,2013 a Flag Meeting was held between Brigadier MK Mango ,Commander Poonch Brigade and Brig Talat of Pakistan army at Chakan-da-Bagh following heavy shelling/firing by Pakistan from June 11 to 20 in Krishna Ghati and Soujian sectors in Poonch district.
After heavy retaliation by the Indian Army Pakistan on June 14 ,2012 Pakistan government had also closed the gates at Chakan-da-Bagh for trade. Pakistan had agreed to respect the 26, November 2013 Truce Agreement and later the trade was resumed and people started crossing to each side of the border on Cross LoC permit. As per it's past record Pakistan army after a gap of about 4 months again involved in unprovoked heavy firing and shelling and on January 8,2013 it's Border Action Team (BAT) in nexus with terrorist outfits and officers of the ISI intruded inside the Indian territory and in a gruesome and brutal act executed the killing of two Indian soldiers namely Lance Naik Hem Raj and Lance Naik Sudhakart Singh of Rajputana Rifles. Following killing of two soldiers situation on the borders once again turn very tense and after pressure from mounted by the government of India Pakistan again agreed to held Flag Meeting which was later held on January 14 ,2013.
On January 13,2014 Pakistan army in order to felicitate the infiltration attempt by the heavily equipped trained terrorists, opened heavy firing on the Indian forward posts in Krishna Ghati sector.
On January 17, 'Flag Meeting' was held at Brigade Commander level in which Indian delegation was lead by Brig A Sengupta and Pakistan delegation was headed by Brig H Gul.
Indian delegation conveyed its concern over infiltration attempts made by terrorist groups and also discussed issues related to improve the existing communication channels and 2003 truce agreement. As per previous record Pakistan delegation denied any such truce violation from their side and instead they (Pakistan) said that it was a retaliatory firing as the Indian troops first opened the fire.
