NGO alleges 'inaction' over allegations of misappropriations in Pahari Hostel | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Sept 20: RTI activist and Chairman Awake India, NGO today reiterated despite allegations of mismanagement and mass misappropriation of funds by the officials posted at Pahari Hostel Rajouri in the past yet no action has been taken by the concerned authorities. Since the inception of Pahari hostel at Rajouri the concerned authorities have failed to provide basic facilities to the boarders belong to poor families of the district. "Every year the number of boarders has been increasing but the concerned authorities including warden of the hostel have failed to increase the strength of rooms as well as of bedding and atleast 6-7 students have been forced to stay in one room," said a boarder. Pertinently several Non Government Organisations (NGOs)/Social Organisations time and again have leveled allegations of mismanagement and mass misappropriation of funds by the officials deputed at this Pahari hostel in the past. Ayaz Mughal, RTI activist & Chairman Awake India, NGO, today alleged no action yet has been taken despite the fact that the allegations of misappropriation of funds was once proved after and inquiry was initiated by the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and its report submitted too has been sent to higher authorities for an action." He further said embezzlement worth crores of rupees have been allegedly detected in various departments including Pahari Hostel and regretted nobody bothers to provide information under RTI Act especially in Rajouri district. Shokat Ali another RTI activist also humming similar tones said none is bothered to reply the RTI pleas in this regard reasons better known to concerned officials. Activists said not only boarders but employees of J&K Advisory Board for Pahari Speaking People (JKABPSP) too have become not been paid their wages for the last more than 10 years courtesy corrupt system. When contacted newly appointed Vice Chairman, JKABPSP Kuldeep Raj Gupta said that matter has been brought into his notice by the boarders and daily wagers during his recent visit to hostel. "It is really a matter of grave concern, he said, adding, "demands raised by boarders and daily wagers are need to be rectified at the earliest. Warden has been directed to look into the problems being faced by the students/boarders and mitigate them as soon as possible." |
