Dy CM appeals to deposit Power charges

Kathua, Sept 20:- Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who has addition charge of Ministry of Power development department today paid intensified visit in Power Grid station Kathua and took stock of Power supply, Power Grid and workshops. He reviewed the existing system and ensured to provide more facilities to Power Grid Kathua.
While interacting to media, DY CM said he ensured to provide 24*7 hours Power supply to people subject to deposit Power charges that has crossed liability above 7000 crore. He said government has made provision to subsidize till Rs 250 crore but people should also come ahead and pay their dues in four decided installments before ending of ongoing financial year. He informed that government had reduced excise duty from 22% to 10% besides nullify tariff but people still impediment to deposit their pending electricity bills.
It is pertinent to mention here that 61% Power supply has been squandering by industries and public offices who have huge liability than private sector where PDD has failed at all ground to encourage these squanders to deposit electricity bills. General public suffer throughout the year due to low voltage but squanders enjoy good power supply. 90 irrigation land has been affect due to 200 defunct transformer in entire district Kathua and farmers have yet to receive compensation for the losses.
Dy CM said department is busy in upgrading workshops for repair of defunct transformers etc where he also ensured to improve supper supply in district Kathua. He informed that Ujh Power Project is in consideration and will be start function within months.
Ujh Power Project will generate 208 Mega watt Power supply that falls under constituency of DY CM. It would benefit to 6 Assembly constituency and respite to erratic power cuts besides drinking water supply to general public. He said 80 acre land will be irrigated by Ujh but government is not serious about such a mega beneficial bonanza.
Shahpur Kandi Power project is pending since 1955 due to few dispute with Punjab government. Punjab government is agreed to restart Shahpur Kandi Power project and ready to provide 1150 cu water for the project. When asked about Shahapur Kandi Power Project, Dy CM said JK CM has already discuss the matter to his counterpart in Punjab and project will restart soon which would meet demand of power supply in J&K.
