Early Times Report RAJOURI, Sept 20: National Development Foundation (NDF) organized a sensitization programme for their livelihood beneficiaries at Rajouri. These beneficiaries are conflict and border affected people. Out of 75 families, 9 Agriculture units, 5 barber shops, 9 carpenter units, 1 electrician shop, 13 provisional store, 7 mason units, 2 mechanical units, 1 plumber unit, 1 sweet shop, 1 utensils shop, 2 poultry units, 17 tailoring units, 1 chicken shop, 3 goat units and 3 cow units were provided to the beneficiaries hailing from different parts of Rajouri district. These beneficiaries are victim of border conflict like shelling, cross firing and floods/landslides. The programme and support was organized by NDF in partnership with Save the Children and with support from European Commission, Bayer & Gates foundation. Senior Superintendent of Police, Rajouri Dr Haseeb Mughal and vice chairman District Child Protection Committee (DCPC) was chief guest on the occasion. He also interacted with the beneficiaries and provided support to few on spot. Arti Sharma, Chief Functionary, NDF was also present on the occasion and briefed the house about the programmes of NDF and Save the Children in Rajouri District. Dr Haseeb, in his address lauded the role of NDF and Save the Children and extended full support of district administration for these activities of the organization. He emphasized on the need of skill development courses for the people of border and far flung areas as it will be a life time investment and will provide employment to the people. He offered the support of Police department in skill development courses like tailoring through their welfare centres. |
