Jammu based unit adds sheen to Modi 's 'Make In India' campaign | Metro Hydro Engineers to launch energy saving lights on Diwali | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 18: Even as the Bharatiya Janta Party has miserably failed to come up to the expectations of people of Jammu who voted them to power, a Jammu-based industrial unit is all set to make Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi's "Make In India" campaign pride. Thanks to the launch of "India's most energy-saving lights" by a Jammu based industrial unit, which has designed them to run on voltage as low as 40 volts, a common voltage in Jammu, particularly rural areas. "Born in J&K, Illuminating India." This slogan adopted by Metro Hydro Engineers, an SSI unit at Industrial Growth Centre, Samba in promoting its 'Snow Glow' brand of LED lights, all set to be launched ahead of Diwali, the festival of lights. Snow Glow's chief Engineer Er Kulbushan Atri told Early Times that the "bulbs have cleared all stringent tests in BIS labs and has got ISO 9001-2008 certification." He said Snow Glow was first "Make in India" product to hit markets in India in line with Modi's campaign and that the Prime Minister's Office has been approached with regard to the launch of the "first make in India product that too ahead of Diwali". Earlier giving a presentation in Srinagar on LED bulbs before audience comprising dealers, engineers from J&K, SIDCO and JKEDA Kulbushan said the bulb works on low voltage as low as 40 volts and as high as 340 volts. Kulbushan giving the demonstration showed as to how their product is real power saver and superior even though priced at the same price tag with 2 years replacement warranty. Vikram Jain who is looking after the sales promotion of the unit said his team was working overtime to create a marketing network first within the state and then they would expand to cater to demands from outside state market to deliver its promise of 'Born in J&K, illuminating India'. Interestingly, the unit looks to be a symbol of communal harmony as Hindus and Muslims have joined hands in the venture. Responding to the queries of some media persons invited on the occasion, Masud Malik the promoter of the SSI Unit said: "Our objective is in accordance with the global and Indian objective of energy conservation and in the process minimize pollution." Exuding confidence which stems from his 15 years of overseas experience, he said: "Through our product and services we aim to make power consumers make savings on power consumption. We aim to reduce cost of energy upto 60%." Masud said ahead of Diwali the firm plans to distribute free bulbs for Mandirs, Masjids and Gurudwaras in the state. Masud said he conceived and set up the unit with inspiration from ABB engineers. Some PDD engineers were delighted to know that the LED could work on so low voltage. "This gives a hope to the energy starved people of Jammu where voltage drops to very low levels and energy saving bulbs cannot operate," said a PDD engineer. |
