STC Club wins junior boys handball title | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 22: Sports Training Centre (STC) Club of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) clinched the junior boys' title trophy beating Sandeep Pal Club 14-11 in the final of the Jammu District Handball Championship, organised by the Jammu District Handball Association at Shastri Nagar playfield, here today. Sahil played fine game for STC contributing a maximum of six points to the total. From Sandeep Club, Sojanya was top scorer with five goals. The men's title trophy went to RL Pissu Club beating Sandeep Club 24-19 in a high scoring well contested game. Neeraj Singh of Pissu Club and Sahil Padha of Sandeep Club were main scorers with five and six goals respectively. In women's final, Sandeep Pal Club defeated RL Pissu Club 12-11 to clinch the thriller. Arushi with four goals emerged as main scorer while Mega added six goals for Pissu Club. Finals were officiated by the technical penal including Sanjeev Singh, Harmeek Singh and Neeraj. In the final and valedictory function, senior BJP leader, Yudhvir Sethi was chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. President of the J&K Handball Association, S M Bali was guest of honour. This championship, sponsored by the State Sports Council, held under the supervision of general secretary of J&K Handball Association, Ashwani Kumar Raina. Among others present were Rajinder kumar, Rajesh Chandan, Dev Raj, Vinay Sharm and Nirmal Kour.
