JU bends rules for student leader, rejects plea of career oriented scholars | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 22: Adopting double standards, the Jammu University is giving relaxation to a student leader for his M Phil course despite undergoing regular Patwar training during the same period whereas a similar request of some scholars, who were recently selected as Government teachers, has been turned down. According to the sources, agenda for the scheduled Jammu University Council meeting on October 23 includes the item for one time relaxation to a student leader, who managed his regular attendance in JU as M Phil scholar when he was also undergoing nine-month Patwar training. Even as the proposal for relaxation to this student leader was turned down in the last Council Meeting and the Governor had purportedly told the university to fix responsibility in that case besides taking stern action against the guilty persons, sources said that godfathers of this student managed to shield him. On the direction of Governor, an inquiry committee was constituted and the student leader as well as his guide was held guilty with a recommendation to cancel his M Phil. However, this inquiry report had been rejected in the meeting of Deans with a recommendation once again to give one time relaxation to the accused student. All this was managed by alleged godfather of this student leader, who was present in the meeting of Deans, sources said. However, on the other hand, Jammu University is learnt to have rejected a similar request by some M Phil scholars, who were recently selected as Government teachers. These scholars were scheduled to complete the number of their mandatory attendance in a couple of days, but they had to leave the university for submitting their joining report as teacher within stipulated period. Hence they were having shortage of only a few attendances for M Phil course, which is going to help them in their professional career as teacher. By giving relaxation in respect of attendance to a student leader but denying the same to career oriented scholars, the Jammu University is thus adopting double standards. Meanwhile, all eyes are set on tomorrow's Council meeting and speculations are agog that the Government may take some hard decision on this double standards of the university. |
