JKUF holds seminar on '1947 Pak Invasion Not Tribal Raid' | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: During a seminar organized by Jammu and Kashmir Unity Foundation (JKUF) on "Pakistan Invasion Not Tribal Raid”' here today majority of panelists unanimously observed that time has come when Government of India should launch a concerted effort to liberate Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan. Majority of panelists speaking in a seminar held at Press Club Jammu here today almost in resonance with each other stated that liberation of Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Gilgit and Baltistan entails nullifying the occupation of the area by Pakistan. "It also requires reversing the massive demographic invasion of that area from the Pakistani heartland, they maintained. Referring to recent videos appeared on micro blogs about anti Pakistan protest in Pakistan, the speakers said that there is a strong urge amongst the original inhabitants of Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) to seek liberation from Pakistani occupation and added that efforts and struggle requires an encouragement from the people of Jammu and Kashmir in India. "It is also an imperative that Govt of India extends unambiguous support diplomatically, politically and in any other way possible," they underlined. Earlier at the onset, Jammu and Kashmir Unity Foundation, (JKUF) convener Ajaat Jamwal in his welcome address said that month of October holds special significance in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. "It was October month when founder of the state Maharaja Gulab Singh took birth and it was in same month that Pakistani attack divided the state and its people, he added. Jamwal said that Islamic state of Pakistan is indulging in worst type of atrocities on Muslims and minorities alike in the PoJK, Gilgit, Baltistan and even Balocliistan, NWFP and Pakistan itself. He also said that centre should take aggressive posture in highlighting the role of Pakistan in Human rights violation not only state but Gilgit, Baltistan, Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Baiochistan. "The Pakistan attempts to change the demography of undivided Jammu and Kashmir should he taken care of, Jamwal asserted. Speaking on the occasion Prof Shailendcr Singh Jamwal HoD Deptt of History, University of Jammu said that the assumption that Maharaja Hari Singh wanted to carve out an Independent Jammu and Kashmir is false. "All the records of the developments around that time prove it without any doubt that he (Maharaja) wanted to join India and did everything at this disposal at that time to ensure that, Prof Jamwal said adding that Maharaja's pro-India inclinations were crystal clear when chose to be amongst the Princes of India to support the Independence of a United India in the Round Table Conference in London. "Infact this public expression of Maharaja led to immense pressure exerted by the British Government by encouraging fissiparous tendencies in Jammu and Kashmir and also encouraging Muslim Conference as well as its incarnation the National Conference to create internal trouble within the state. |
