Ladli Beti, Aasra Schemes launched at Kishtwar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kishtwar, Nov 15: Minister for Social Welfare , Forest, Ecology and Environment Bali Bhagat while launching an ambitious Ladli Beti scheme, a social security program for girls born in low-income families, here at TRC Kishtwar said that "There is need to provide economic security and quality education to the girls of the district so that they become the partners of development. Minister said that under this scheme, girls who took birth on or after April 1st 2015 and registered with the scheme will get Rs.6.50 lakh on attaining the age of 21 and girl child born to parents whose annual income is less than Rs.75000 per annum will be eligible to avail benefits under the scheme which is aimed to balance child sex ratio. "It is a revolutionary step towards social security of the girls," he said, adding the scheme will come as a huge relief to those economically weak" said Baghat. "I am highly thankful to my maternal grandmother that she allow the birth of my mother and today because of her I am what I am" added Bhagat. Colourful cultural and musical programs were presented by the school children. Renowned Kishtwari singer Brig Bala enthralled the mammoth audience gathering with her voice after nearly 15 years since she last performed in Kishtwar District. Another reputed singer of Kishtwar Nisar Ahmed Doolwal sing a song titled as "Ladli Beti" in a mixture of Urdu and Kashmiri language highlighted the importance of girl child and menace of girl child ratio. Sunil Sharma while speaking on this occasion said that alarming trend of declining child sex ratio is a matter of great concern and such schemes will definitely help in balancing the ratio. He said Ladli Beti scheme will go a long way in transforming the status of women in the society. |
