Petrol price hiked by 36 paise, diesel by 87 paise per litre | | | Agencies
New Delhi, Nov 15: State-owned oil marketing companies today hiked petrol and diesel prices by 36 paise and 87 paise per litre respectively with effect from midnight tonight following their fortnightly review of the price of Indian basket of crude oil. After the latest price revision, petrol will cost Rs 61.06 a litre in Delhi with prices varying marginally in other places due to local levies. Diesel will cost Rs 46.80 a litre in Delhi. In the last review, oil companies had cut petrol prices by 50 paise but left diesel price unchanged. "The current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Rupee-Dollar exchange rate warrant an increase in prices, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision," Indian Oil Corp, the nation's largest fossil fuel retailer, said in a statement. It added, ''The movement of prices in the international oil market and the exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes. |
