'Govt should initiate new educational scheme for Gujjars, Bakerwals' 11/15/2015 11:55:31 PM Jammu, Nov 15 : The state government must step in to initiate new Educational schemes for Scheduled Tribes - Gujjars and Bakerwals- keeping in view their difficult lifestyle and migratory way of life -a Tribal study group said this in a programme organised by Tribal Research and Tribal Foundation here today. They said that both the tribal groups are facing extremely low literacy rates in comparison to other tribes of Jammu and Kashmir and suggested affordable and inclusive education programme for tribal groups. As per 2011 census national literacy rate among STs is 58.96% in State of Jammu and Kashmir it is 50.6% but its extremely low among Gujjars (36.79% ) and Bakerwals (25.32%) says scholars while expressing their views in discussion programme held here on the topic "Illiteracy- the main cause of backwardness among Gujjars-Bakerwals ".   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
