NMC seeks income tax exemption on DA | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri expressing his anguish over imposition of income tax on the increased salary because of Dearness Allowance, he said that there is no justification and the dearness allowance should be exempted from the ambit of income tax as it is directly linked with the price escalation of the salaried class and pensioners. Shastri was addressing a well attended NMC workers rally at Village Kanjali and urged upon the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaiitey to reconsider this practice and make announcement in this regard during the budget session of parliament adding further that income tax exemption limit should be raised from the existing Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Shastri demanded immediate issuing an administrative order so that the implementation of the same takes place from January 1, 2016 as per the commitment made by the NDA government to the salaried class. Shastri further said that since the recommendations of 7th pay commission were now out, there should be no delay in implementing them and provide new year gift both to Central and State government employees and pensioners. Several resolution were adopted in the rally which included early release of 6% DA due from July last year, setting up of wages head in each department of the State government for early disbursement of wages, issuance of orders for removal of all pay anomalies of clerical cadre under SRO 93, enhancing of wages of daily rated workers. |
