Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 25: The separatists' call for shut down against Village Defense Committees (VDCs) across the Valley helped Jammu Kashmir Services Selection Board to conceal its mismanagement which came to fore on Friday when examination were conducted for various categories.
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB) yesterday had conducted examination for the posts of Compiler and Finance Inspector. While during the examination some aspirants were found using cell phones, invigilators helping candidates in mass copying were caught on camera, which has already been viral in various social networking sites.
Source in JKSSB informed Early Times that taking lesson from previous day's ill preparedness of the board including allotment of centres at eleventh hour, lack of accommodation, stationery and saving their skin, the board postponed the exam. "Unfortunately the motive behind the postponement of today’s examination was the ill-preparedness of the board", said source wishing not to be named.
The source further said that however the mismanagement of the JKSSB has been viral in various social networking sites but rather than taking stern action against violators who were involved in mass copying, the board has declared only re- examination at two centres falling under Jammu division but name of centres are still not disclosed. "While in Kashmir region, the invigilators were found helping the candidates openly in violation of norms.
The complaints of cheating, mass copying and using cell phones were received in various centres of Jammu division and Kashmir regions including Luthra College of Education, GGM Science College and even GHSS, RS Pura, and Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Ganderbal and Budgam districts of the Valley.
"But ironically the board has cancelled exam of only two centres of Jammu exposing the transparency claims of recruiting agencies", the source said.
But SSB's acceptance has come when the strike calls given by separatists particularly Syed Ali Geelani have often been a flop show. The same happened today as traffic remained by and large normal while shops were also open in many areas of Kashmir including Hyder Pora where Geelani lives.
Official sources said the intelligence agencies have taken a serious note of this negligence on the SSRB authorities to attribute hartal as reason for deferment of exams. Sources said the Central Investigation Department of Police has been asked to file a "report in this regard" while the General Administration Department will issue a show cause notice to the SSRB Secretary to define his position with regard to this "blunder."
An official working with intelligence wing of state police said the biggest embarrassment remained that the notice leaked onto social media and people started to share the notice to glorify Geelani as leader though he has actually been "losing popularity and command over the people of Kashmir."
However sources said the SSB used Geelani's hartal as an excuse whereas the actual reason was that the recruitment agency was not fully prepared to conduct exams on time.
