Panthers' Mahila wing holds protest, seeks 33% reservation for women in LA | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: Jammu and Kashmir National Panther Party staged protest demonstration and sought early delimitation of Assembly constituencies in the State and reservation of 33 percent seats for women in State Assembly. Reminding the ruling BJP of its 'Vision Document' released during 2014 Elections as also the speeches of Narendra Modi and other senior leaders, Panthers Mahila wing led by Manju Singh senior JKNPP leader raised slogans against BJP, Prime Minister as well as State Government and also took out a procession from Dogra Chowk which was restrained by the Police at Tawi Bridge from proceeding further. Addressing the gathering, Manju Singh said that assurances for delimitation and for ending regional bias were not only doled out by the central BJP leadership but the BJP's vision document released during Elections also categorically promised early delimitation of Assembly constituencies in J&K so as to ensure justice to Jammu region with 33 % seats reserved for women, five seats for displaced persons of PoJK out of 24 seats reserved for them in the state constitution and three seats for Kashmir migrants. Lambasting the lackadaisical approach of the govt. towards the main demand of Jammu region, she said that delimitation of constituencies which forms a part of the coalition's Agenda of Alliance deserved a priority consideration with early constitution of Delimitation commission so as to make possible the accomplishment of the Delimitation exercise during the currency of the present coalition which otherwise was a time consuming process. |
