Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26: In order to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor, illegal smuggling of liquor from other States, toll evasion and other violations of the provisions of the J&K Excise Act, the J&K Excise Department, Jammu has intensified drive against violators laying of Nakas on various roads and realized an amount of Rs. 75, 980 has been imposed as fine on the toll evaders.. According to spokesperson, various teams have been constituted to make raids/ surprise inspections to check the offences/ crimes committed. All this is being done on the strict directions of the Minister for Finance, J&K, Haseeb Drabu, and under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu, Mohammed Shahid Saleem. "Four nakas were laid on various national highways to check the Toll evasion and smuggling of illicit liquor, he said and added that on account of Toll evasion, an amount of Rs 75, 980/- has been imposed as fine on the toll evaders. "The Naka was laid by the Excise teams headed by ETOs Nayeem Mughal and Yudhvir Padha on Jammu-Kathua stretch of National Highway at Seventeen Miles and by the Excise teams headed by ETOs Veriner Pawar and Sandeep Gupta at Dayalachak , on Udhampur-Jammu stretch of National Highway at Manwal and on Batote-Banihal stretch of National Highway at Ramban," he said. |
