JAMMU, Jan 15 : Jammu and Kashmir Bank today selected 16 boys to be trained over three years at its Jammu Football Academy. Around 65 young footballers from different parts of Jammu took part in three-day selection trials under the guidance of experts at GGM Science College, here today. Selected boys are Shreyan Dev Singh, Ajay Singh, Ishaan Khanna, Sanjot Singh, Ankit Mehta, Abishek Chandan, Deewanshu Dogra, Rajan Singh, Aniket Jasrotia, Gurdeep Mehra, Nitin Kumar, Sunil Sayal, Lakshit Sharma, Shivam Gupta, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Vishab Sumbria. Earlier, the process of selection was exhaustive one in which the selection committee applied various parameters. Skill, strength, speed, ability to gauge the situations, game sense, agility, presence of mind and other allied abilities of the probable formed the core of criteria adopted by the Selection Committee. Now, these selected boys shall be attending coaching on day to day basis. They will be taught about various aspects and dynamics of the game and their raw talent will be nurtured and polished over a period of three years by experts. Further, they will be provided a platform to enhance their capabilities and realize and tap their talent to the potential not only through coaching but by participating in various matches and tournaments. During this period of three years they will be provided monthly stipend of Rs 1500 plus uniform and daily refreshment, a handout issued by the Bank informed. The selected players were impressed upon by the selection committee to work hard on the game during the course of training and at the same time pursue their academics as well judiciously so that they are able to grow as good and multifaceted personalities. They were also instructed to maintain strict discipline on and off the field. They have got a good platform to demonstrate their capabilities and mature into good football players and avail this great opportunity for bringing laurels for themselves and as well as for the State of J&K. Presently the Under 19 state team for the Dr B C Roy Trophy National Championship comprises of many players of Jammu and Kashmir Bank's Academies. |
