JU's VC using Facebook to malign ET | | | Early Times Report jammu, Jan 15: Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof. RD Sharma has accused 'disgruntled elements' of using Early Times for maligning the University, indirectly accusing ET of offering space to such 'elements'. However, it has ironically become a case of Vice Chancellor using social media to malign the Early Times, which has emerged as one of the popular publications of the State. Responding to the ET report published in its edition dated January 13, 2016 titled 'JU failed to pay last homage to its Pro Chancellor' which highlighted the failure of the Vice Chancellor to be present at the funeral of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who was also the Pro Chancellor of the University, the Vice Chancellor has refuted the claims of the ET, trying to give an impression that he was present at the State funeral which was organized to pay last homage to the departed leader. In his posting of Lohri greetings on FB, the Vice Chancellor has tried jugglery of words to give an impression that he was present at the funeral and the claim could be corroborated from the log book of the vehicle of the VC of the Islamic University. However, in a bid to conceal facts and save blushes, VC did not specify the date of his visit. ET reliably learnt that VC JU visited the Muftis on January 9, two days after the Chief Minister and Pro Chancellor Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was laid to rest. "The VC went to condole the demise of the Pro Chancellor two days after his death "confirmed a senior officer of the JU pleading anonymity. Meanwhile, Special Secretary to the VC Islamic University refused to give any information about the visit of the VC JU. "I have no information about his visit" he said. ET in its report had reported "University of Jammu remained unrepresented at the State funeral of the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that took place at his native village on the 7th of January. Besides being a brazen act of ungratefulness to its Pro-Chancellor, this was a complete departure from the protocol as the Vice Chancellors of the State Universities figure in the list of dignitaries who laid wreath on the mortal remains of the departed leader, who was the sitting Chief Minister of the State". Further, it is astounding that how Vice Chancellor came across ET report and cared to respond to it on social media despite verbal orders issued to all academic departments of the university not to subscribe to 'Early Times'. |
