Kathua, Jan 15: The Income Tax Department organized a seminar on the 'widening of the tax base' at Town Hall, Kathua here today in which large number of eminent citizens, traders, business entrepreneurs and officials concerned participated. Sangeeta Gupta, IRS Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, J&K, Jammu attended the occasion as special invitee while Rajiv Gubgotra, DCIT, P S Jamwal, ITO also were present on this occasion. In her address, Sangeeta Gupta presented an overview of income tax scenario both at J&K and national level. She thanked the tax payers for attend in large number and further stated that main purpose to hold such awareness camp is only to spreading the message of widening of tax base and filing of tax returns by different categories of the people. She pointed out that Department is trying to provide services at the door steps of the tax payers and elaborated further that department has opened new offices at Katra, Samba in the Jammu division so that tax payers get their income tax related problems solved without travelling to Jammu. The special invitee also said that that tax payers can also pay their tax on line at any place and there is no requirement to visit the bank branch for deposit of tax. She also informed that the department has already got nominated the bank branches of the Jammu and Kashmir at Reasi, Katra, Samba and Vijaypur nominated from RBI as Nodel branch for receipt of income tax. Advocate Lalit Mahajan on behalf of taxation Bar and Association, Devinder Verm a, President Industries Association Kathua, Surinder Bajaj on behalf of Beopar Mandal Kathua also addressed the gathering and spoke on the subject. |
