Fairer sex feeling insecure, eve-teasing on spurt in Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah, Jan 15: The fairer sex in Bhaderwah town of district Doda these days is feeling insecure and anxious while going out of their homes due to increase in eve-teasing is on spurt with anti social elements on prowl everywhere.
According to sources, there is no let up in eve-teasing incidents in the Bhaderwah town ."The rising cases of eve teasing have created a fear physic among fairer sex particularly school and college going girls as eve-teasers are roaming fearlessly in city, sources said.
The vulnerable spots include old ITI complex to Dakbungalow Bhaderwah while the administration is virtually has failed to tackle the menace," they said, adding, "girl students of various schools face eve teasers on stalking near Old ITI complex ,Outside Dak Bungalow to Pasri Mohalla and Chaka which have become notorious spots where eve teasers have marked their ground."
"Eve teasers are seen zooming their bikes and other vehicles and usually pass lewd comment and even tease girls resulting harassment," a girl on anonymity complained.
"We just walk with our heads down (but of no fault of ours) and just to avoid the eve-teasers," said another girl from old Bus Stand Bhaderwah on promised anonymity. She demanded from police to look into and grill the delinquents and urged administration to strengthen patrolling on regular basis. Another girl said declining moral values within society is responsible for spurt in such cases and urged the administration to deal delinquent with iron hands so as to teach a lesson to others. Some college going girls also have alleged that maximum eve teasers are sons of affluent and influential people from the society who live near Chaka bridge of Bhaderwah.
"Street Romeos' stalk us and pass obscene remarks, but we are left with no option but to tolerate their nonsense just as spectators as there is none to help us," some girls said, adding, "due to conservative system the families of the girls don't want to go to police apprehending this might brought ill name to their families and this things apparently is becoming a potential cause for eve teasers to stalk the girls."
Girls demanded constituting of an anti-eve teasing squad in town and said that even if we try to teach a lesson to such elements, people in our so-called civilized society don't come to our rescue leaving us alone to fend for ourselves. "The police alone cannot end the menace and society at large has to put up a brave face against such elements," they said, further adding the parents need to teach the moral values to their wards especially to regard the dignity of girls.
