| Son of soil Lt Col Sarotra gets Chief of army staff commendation for exemplary services | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Jan 15: Son of the soil Lt. Col Aneel Sarotra was awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his 17 year long meritorious services including tenure in mountainous Kishtwar district during his posting at 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Kishtwar n the occasion of 68th Army Day celebrated across the nation by Indian Army.
As per the details available with "Early Times" Lt Col Aneel Sarotra born to the family of TR Sharma and Aruna Sharma of Jammu completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya Udhampur and Jammu then joined NDA in the year 1995.
"He got commissioned into Sikh Light Infantry in the year 1999, according to reports which added that during his 17 year long service in Army, Aneel Sarotra served in North-East and Siachen Glacier and also in UN Mission in Ethiopia.
He was also got an opportunity to work with President late Dr Abdul Kalam when he was posted at Rashtipati Bhawan.
In his 2 years of tenure at Kishtwar during 2014-15, the son of the soil contributed a lot to the people by initiating various public welfare schemes and also assisted more than 350 students of Kishtwar from weaker section for free education under Op Sadhbhavna. He also worked for the welfare of retired soldiers and their widows and played a key role in distribution of Rs 35 lakhs to the needy Veer Naris and retried soldiers of the District which include an amount of Rs. 1 lakh for marriage of daughter of Smt Begma Akhter w/o Late Naib Subedar Mahraj-ud-Din.
He has also been looking after and assisting the Ashiyana Orphanage Boys Hostel -- A home for orphans at Kishtwar and has become a role model for many little hearts.
He also have organized the Chenab Super 30 exam in the district for selection of meritorious and talented students for training them for IIT-JEE entrance exam to the students and ensuring better future to younger minds of Kishtwar. Continuing his welfare project he also brain child tuition classes for the kids of Nomad Gujjars and Bakarwal community of the District.
Besides these he also initiated number of skill development programs for unemployed youth of Kishtwar such as Mobile repairing, welding, plumbing, carpenter, Vehicle Mechanic and JCB Operators under Sadbhavana and also got projects worth Rs 1 Crore implemented across the district.
The Chief of The Army Staff Commendation Card was awarded on Army Day to Lt Col Aneel for his exceptional devotion towards his duties is the matter of pride not only the to his family but also to people of Kishtwar and the entire state as well. |
