Traffic snarls make life hell for residents | | | M S NAZKI Early Times Report POONCH, Mar 6: Traffic snarls and illegal parking in the heart of Mendhar town have assumed such alarming proportions that people are suffering for not being able to finish important work for reaching their destinations late. The frequent traffic jams on Mendhar roads have been a common feature, causing problems for commuters, school going children and office goers. Haphazard parking of minibuses, Tata sumos and cars on the main road in tehsil area has become a cause of concern for locals as well as commuters since the serpentine rows of vehicles block smooth movement of vehicular traffic. "Minibuses and Tata sumos encroach half of the road leading to traffic jams, but traffic police cops take no note of it," said commuters. According to sources, the main cause of increasing traffic mess in Mendhar town is the haphazard parking of Tata sumos and other light motor vehicles. However, over the years, the authorities concerned have failed to formulate a long term policy to tackle the increasing traffic rush in Mendhar town. The Mendhar roads are also in a dilapidated condition and portions of them have been encroached by vendors and rehriwalas, sources said. |
