Early Times Report udhampur, Mar 6: The 8-day capacity building training programme for Self Help Groups, formed under Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP), concluded here at Udhampur. Being conducted by Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA), the training programme was sponsored by State Level Nodal Agency for Integrated Watershed Management promamme, Department of Rural Development, Udhampur. During the training programme, nearly 41 Self Help Groups comprising 290 members were imparted training in different trades like Fisheries, basket making, poultry/dairy, bee-keeping, sericulture, sheep rearing and bank linkage. The areas covered included Chapper, Jakhed, Paddar Dudu, Pachound, Kirchi Dudu, Bandhole. The objective of this comprehensive programe is to promote skill development among the people residing in the watershed areas so that they are provided sustainable livelihoods. The expert team, led by DAHWA Chairperson Surat Singh Sumbria, was comprised of Rajender Kumar Raina expert Sericulture. K.D.Kurhan expert Diary/poultry, Naresh Sharma expert Fisheries, Madan Lal Sheep rearing, Dhiwinder Singh bee-keeping expert, Mani Ram basket making. Project Officer IWMP Udhampur, Attar Chand, contributed valuable innovations to make the programme a real success besides supporting the training programme at all levels. Besides, social mobilizers IWMP Milap Singh and Kirpal Singh accompanied the team during the training progamme. |
