World Oral Health Day observed | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 20: To mark the World Oral Health Day 2016, a dental check-up camp was organised today at the Health Centre, University of Jammu Dr. Gautam Sharma, Dental Surgeon, University of Jammu and President, Indian Dental Association, conducted the oral health check-up of the residents of University campus including hostelers. Dr.Sharma said that it is of utmost importance to detect the oro-dental diseases at an early stage so that their spread can be controlled. A patient with dental problem generally avoids consulting a dentist at the early stage and the only reason which brings him to a dentist is an attack of a severe dental pain. Some patients even then do not approach a dentist but try to get relief with homemade remedies and after sometime this acute painful stage slips into the chronic stage and pain subsides. But this can be fatal as untreated oral diseases may cause serious infection of head and neck region. He said this camp was helpful in screening various dental problems at an initial stage and can be treated easily. Dr.Sharma also gave various tips to maintain good oral hygiene to the visitors of the camp. Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, HoD Botany department and convener of Health Centre Advisory Committee, said that all the recognised days related to human health will be celebrated in the university health centre in future also and this will be a regular and perpetual feature. Ashish Gupta from Abbott Pharma provided tooth paste, mouth wash, antibiotics and analgesics free of cost to patients. |
