Woman killed over dowry

Kathua, Mar 20: Hundreds of protesters on board today blocked National Highway near Hiranagar Morh with the dead body of Radha Sharma wife of Rohit Singh, an army man resident of Jangi Chak Tehsil Hiranagar. Both got married on March 7, 2014 but crisis started right after few months of marriage.
The protesters expressed resentment against 'In laws' family of deceased. The girl was allegedly killed by in-laws family on the mid night of 18th of March . Police did not take any action in the case despite series of protest demonstration with dead body in last few days.
Manohar Lal, Paternal uncle of deceased, said the girl was living in maternal house for last few months as divorce case is still pending with Session court Kathua.
He informed that in-laws family continually forced the girl to bring dowry and harassed her timely. He informed that husband of deceased called on girl and motivated her to accompany him in his house during evening of Mar 18, . Later on they got information from sources that the girl had been hanged and found dead in locked door. Sonu Sharma, Paternal uncle of deceased said that the girl was found dead when they reached at house. He allegedly the girl was killed and hanged later on with a grill. He said ironically her knees touched the ground and room was locked from outside that smelled murder than suicide as in laws did not inform anybody about the death. Sharma said when they rushed to Police station Hiranagar to lodge complaint, no Police officials allowed them to enter the police station. SHO and SDPO Border Diwakar Singh did not file FIR against any of culprit Rohit Singh Husband, Neena Devi Mother-in-laws or Narinder Singh Brother-in-law of deceased. Nisha Devi, mother of the deceased informed that culprits made several attempt to kill and threatened for dare consequences if she did not bring dowry. She demanded transparency in the matter and truth must be prevailed in the case.
