Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar 26: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) re-alliance with Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has left opposition parties red-faced who were expecting re-elections in the wake of deadlock over government formation.
Snooping opposition including that of National Conference (NC) and Congress that witnessed humiliating defeat in 2014 assembly elections were convinced that PDP will succumb to pressure politics and forget reunion with BJP.
However political pundits described 'useless' the hue and cry raised by opposition parties who wanted to gain brawny points by portraying PDP as anti Kashmiri for shaking hands with BJP.
"Government formation with BJP was expected, the furore created by opposition parties was mere hogwash to create hatred among people so that they could repair the dents caused to their image due to their incapability to win the hearts of the people when they were in government," a renowned political analyst told 'Early Times'.
He said government formation was imperative keeping in view the overall political and economic condition of Jammu and Kashmir; "well this is opposition's job to confuse ruling party, given strong stance of PDP President she left everyone by surprise"
A PDP insider said that the party President who is also daughter of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed seems convinced after meeting Prime Minister.
"Our objective is development of Jammu and Kashmir, yes she had put some conditions before BJP to form the government again, however the stalemate ended over the positive note," he said.
He said PDP Patron and late Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed managed to run the government for almost a year with BJP when the state treasury was empty and people wanted change in family rule.
"We formed government with BJP only for the betterment of people of Jammu and Kashmir; PDP never put interests of people on sale for its personal interests, we could also form government with Congress but our past experiences with this party has left no scope to forge an alliance with it," he said.
He said that 2014 elections exposed every party in Jammu and Kashmir that has been playing with the sentiments of innocent people for their patty political interests for decade's altogether.
"We will complete the full tenure with BJP and it's for sure that the state will experience the new era of development in every aspect," he said.
A top BJP leader wishing anonymity told 'Early Times' "BJP-PDP government is committed to develop Jammu and Kashmir, centre is also steadfast to bring Jammu and Kashmir out of political and economic instability, I can only assure that next five years will be surprising".
