Nirmal Singh's lone presence in Raj Bhawan meeting raises question marks... | All is not well within BJP yet again...? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 26: As the stage of political developments raised curtains on final sequence of activities paving way for formation of new alliance Government in the State, BJP once again showed some deviation reflecting peculiarity in its conduct amid developments. Contrary to PDP delegation comprising three senior leaders led by party chief Mehbooba Mufti who met Governor NN Vohra today, it was one man show from BJP side- Dr Nirmal Singh alone who joined them in the crucial meeting staking claim over Government formation in the Raj Bhawan. Sources said Dr Nirmal Singh's lone presence from BJP side in the meeting with Governor NN Vohra has raised not merely eyebrows but question mark both within and outside the party. While this has surprised many in the party circles, the development has not been received well with the State leadership of the party, sources said, adding that a message in the entire political spectrum of the State which is being watched keenly with interest at every stage has gone once again that all is not well within the party. Sources said that party leaders are surprised over the fact that today's meeting was a matter between Raj Bhawan and the party , no matter for the sake of constitutional provisions. As Raj Bhawan is headed by Governor, in the same manner the party is also headed by someone called president which is why latter's presence was equally important in the meeting today in which both the alliance partners mutually decided to go together, sources in the party said as a sentiment on the issue running high within the party echelons. No matter Dr Singh in the meeting held on Friday was elected as the legislative party chief and consented to be on the post of Deputy Chief Minister in second innings of the alliance with PDP, but he has not yet taken oath for the post nor is he authorized to take over the powers of the party President, sources further said. Sources said Dr Nirmal Singh's going alone with the PDP delegation is being seen nothing less than his desperation and hurry in formation of the Government first and discussing the other issues like distribution of portfolios later with the alliance partner. Whereas, the State leadership including president and other senior leaders are learnt to have been thinking on contrary lines, sources said. In the meeting held today, the BJP leaders are learnt to have expressed in one voice that since party has more MLAs (25+ 3 independents ), it should be given equal share, if not anything more than the partner PDP this time . They are of the opinion that this matter was required to be discussed before the new Chief Minister takes over the chair , something which PDP may not like at this stage. However, Dr Singh, who feels he has the support and full backing of RSS will decide such things on his own way, said the sources. |
