'DySP hand in glove with drug mafia'
3/27/2016 12:01:11 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 26: A senior police officer has complained to PHQ against a DySP, who is at present posted as SDPO in Jammu district, for allegedly being hand in glove with drug mafia and sheltering anti-social elements.
People of an area, that falls under his jurisdiction, have protested twice against the DySP. During the first protest, the senior officer visited the spot and pacified the people. But when people protested again, the senior officer informed PHQ about his alleged unlawful acts, police sources said.
"The SHOs, who work under him, are also said to have complained against him," sources said, adding that the senior officer had sought his immediate transfer.
After his promotion as DySP, his posting as SDPO was managed by an influential person who is said to be quite thick with him. "Though he was to be posted in armed police, the influential man got him posted as SDPO," sources said.
He was alleged to have helped some criminals at the instance of his 'mentor'. "In his complaint, the senior officer has stated that resentment has been brewing against the DySP because of the deteriorating law and order situation in his areas. He has also said that his continuance as SDPO will not be good for police department," the sources added.
PHQ had now made up its mind to transfer the SDPO to armed police, but it had decided not to issue his single order. As and when the transfer list of DySPs was issued, his name would be included in it, sources said.
Sources said the DySP too had started efforts to make sure that he was again posted as SDPO as and when he was transferred from his present place of posting.
