Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 1: Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir, (VOK) has booked a former deputy commissioner of Srinagar, a tehsildar and others for allegedly attesting false mutation of a nazool land worth crores in Narsing Garh estate, Srinagar, in favour of a Habba Kadal resident. The case was registered on the basis of verification conducted by VOK into the allegations that tehsildar, (south) Srinagar, had attested a false mutation No 3865 of 6 kanals 14 marlas of nazool land falling under Survey No 499 Min in Estate Narsing Garh, Magarmal Bagh, Srinagar, in favour of one Ghulam Rasool Kana, son of Abdul Karim Kana of Bana Mohalla, Habba Kadal. The land value is estimated at crores of rupees. The verification revealed that the land was state land and the super structures existing on it were under the occupation of IRP 1st Bn C Hqrs and CAPD department. It alleged that Sheikh Muneer Akhter, then tehsildar (south), Srinagar, in league with patwari Sheikh Showkat Hussain, girdwar Ghulam Nabi Bakal and then Srinagar DC Sheikh Ajaz Iqbal, hatched a conspiracy with land broker Ghulam Rasool Kana by way of which they attested mutation No 3865 on January 28, 2008 in favour of one Ajab Singh, son of Gopal Singh of Satwari, Jammu, conferring undue benefit upon the beneficiary by granting ownership rights of the land upon him though established to be non-state subject. The verification revealed that Kana subsequently obtained Power of Attorney form Ajab Singh on the basis of which then Srinagar DC Ajaz Iqbal, allegedly in league with other revenue officials without ascertaining the title of the land, handed over its possession along with super structure on it to Kana. The VOK investigation alleged the DC and other public servants, by way of abusing their official positions, conferred illegally undue benefit upon Ajab Singh, at present residing as a tenant in a house at Gorkha Nagar, Bahu, here and his attorney holder Kana. Accordingly, VOK booked them all under section 5 (1)(d) read with 5(2) of P C Act Svt 2006 and sections 120 (B), 467, 468 and 471 of RPC. |
